Featured Case History » Old Baths Beaumaris
This was an extremely challenging instruction, being a redevelopment site within a Conservation Area and within site of Beaumaris Castle, a World Heritage Site. The challenge, shared with the Architects, was to develop a contemporary building that would reflect present day planning values without offending the obvious heritage that abounds in the town of Beaumaris. After several meetings with CADW and the Conservation officers within the Council a solution was agreed upon, that would also ensure a viable development proposal for the client.

Discussions were prolonged with the local authority but eventually a solution was agreed and the development was allowed following representations by Owen Devenport on this prime sea front location.
Porth y Felin House, Holyhead
The developers, from Manchester, decided to instruct local, qualified Town Planners to apply for planning permission in relation to an extensive redevelopment site on the marina front at Holyhead. Owen Devenport were duly instructed on this exiting but difficult site. The issues involved land outside the client.s ownership, a Listed Building, Affordable Homes, Welsh Language Impact Assessment, Design, Layout and the whole principle of developing in a sensitive location.
After many months of careful negotiation with the Authority planning permission was finally granted for conversion of the Listed Building as well as developing 37 new apartments, in what is now seen as a landmark development in a highly prestigious location.
