Permission secured for long established use of land for keeping and riding of horses as well as a recently built riding arena, stables, and amenity building

This case involved helping our clients secure permission for keeping and riding horses on a site that they had recently bought. We were recommended to them by their Architects, who had advised them that they needed specialist advice which we would be able to provide.

Our clients had bought the site from the previous owners, but then found out that there was no existing permission in place to use the site for equestrian purposes after beginning work to modernise and add to the site. We advised the client on the requirements and assisted them with initial discussions with the Council’s Planning Enforcement team, then prepared an application to regularise the existing use for keeping and riding of horses, as well as a riding arena, stables, and amenity structure that they have built on site. We also advised and assisted with addressing matters brought up during the case, and ultimately secured full permission for the use and work that had taken place.

This has placed the use on a firm footing, headed off the need for the Council to take enforcement action, and allowed our client to pursue their dream of having their own land and buildings to enjoy their horses. They were delighted with the results, and we were pleased that we were able to help them.
